What is a functional skills qualification equivalent to?

Level 2 Functional Skills

Level 2 functional skills qualifications can be sat in both maths and English. This is the equivalent of a grade C (or 4) at GCSE level, so is widely accepted as an equivalent to a GCSE.

Level 1 Functional Skills

Level 1 functional skills qualifications can be sat in both maths and English. This is the equivalent of a grade D or E (2 or 3) at GCSE level, therefore it is just below a GCSE and wouldn't be viewed as an equivalent qualification, but are great for students to develop their skills in maths or English, and are used as a stepping stone to then progress onto the Functional Skills Level 2 Qualification.
