Pass Functional Skills to Pass Tech Provider Migration

Upcoming Platform Site Change

For account managed providers on an active contract, we’re moving our passfunctionalskills provider and student platforms to a new domain. This change is designed to improve functionality and reliability, while keeping the day-to-day experience the same.

On (or soon after) Monday 2nd February, organisation managers and teachers can start using the new site and will be automatically redirected.

On (or soon after) the migration date, students who try to access the old domain will be signposted to the new one.

This article explains what’s changing, how it affects you and your students, what you may need to do to prepare and the improvements introduced in the new platform.

What’s Changing?

  • If you are an account managed provider on an active contract, the platform will be accessed via new domains:
  • On the final migration date, users logging in via the old domains will be automatically redirected (or signposted) to the new ones.

How This Affects Students

Good news, this change is seamless for students.

  • ✅ No progress will be lost
  • ✅ Paused tests and exams can be resumed on the new site
  • ✅ Students can start using the new domain at any time
  • 🔁 If students log in via the old domain after the final migration date, they’ll be prompted to visit Pass Tech to continue their learning
  • No action is required from teachers to protect student data or progress.

What Students will see when they log in to the old domain

  1. If you are an account managed provider on an active contract, your students will see a message signposting them to Pass Tech (shown below)
  2. After visiting the Pass Tech domain they will need to log in with the same credentials to continue their learning
  3. All diagnostic results, course progress, and associated data will remain in place
  4. Students should log in directly on Pass Tech from then on

Below is a screenshot showing the message students will see:

How This Affects Providers

  • If you are an account managed provider on an active contract, you will be migrated
  • The platform functionality will remain the same
  • The old domain will automatically redirect to the new one
  • You'll simply log in via the new domain
  • All existing data, groups,  and reports will continue to work as expected

What Providers Should Do

To ensure a smooth transition, please review the following steps.

If you’ve saved bookmarks or shared links that point to the old domain, update them to use:

This helps avoid confusion and ensures faster access.

Similarly, if you send your students URLs to access the learning portal, ensure you are using the new domain [https://learn.pass.tech]

2. Log In Using the New Domain

You can begin logging in via the new domain at any time from the migration date:

Your existing login details will continue to work.

3. Whitelist the New Domain

If your company network uses domain whitelisting or firewalls, ensure the new domain is whitelisted.

This helps prevent login or access issues for both teachers and students.

4. Update API Integrations or Webhooks (If Applicable)

If your school or organisation uses API integrations or webhooks that reference the old domain, these will need to be updated.

  • Review and update any integrations to point to the new domains.

If you’re unsure whether this applies to you, check with your technical team. Our CTO will be available to discuss this step on a call with any Providers who this affects.

Provider Migration Timeline

  • On (or soon after) Monday 2nd February, anyone accessing the old domain will be automatically redirected to Pass Tech

  • Until Monday 2nd February, we recommend using passfunctionalskills.
  • On (or soon after) Monday 2nd February, any student accessing the old domain will be signposted to Pass Tech as shown in the screenshot above

New Features on the Pass Tech Platform

GCSE Courses

The Pass Tech platform will include a variety of GCSE level courses, designed to prepare students for their GCSE exams. We are introducing courses for the following subjects, specific to various exam boards: Maths (Foundation and Higher), English Language, Combined Science and Biology.

Course control

With the Pass Tech platform including a wider selection of courses, we want to give providers and teachers more control over which courses their students are enrolled on.

On the new Pass Tech platform, we now automatically filter the student’s course list to show courses they are either already enrolled on, or are suggested from their initial assessment result. This will reduce confusion in the course selection process,

Teachers and providers will be able to more easily manage the courses that their learners are following.
