Forced Knowledge Assessments

What is a Forced KA?

A forced Knowledge Assessment, similar to a forced Initial Assessment, is designed to ensure that the correct course progression is maintained by preventing a student from accessing other sections until the SKA or TAKAs are completed.

A forced Knowledge Assessment (SKA or TAKAs) is applied at the subject level. For example, if enforced for Maths, it will apply to all Maths courses. If the student completes the SKA or TAKAs in one of their courses within this subject, it will still remain enforced for other courses within the same subject.

If the student has both a forced Initial Assessment (IA) and a forced Knowledge Assessments (SKA and TAKAs), the forced IA must be completed first.

Please note that while a KA is enforced for a course, all topics and subsections will be inaccessible.

The student must either complete the course's Subject Knowledge Assessment to access the topics, or complete a Topic Area Knowledge Assessment to access the topic area's topics.

The only exception to this is mock exams, which the student can complete at any time.

How to force a KA:

Knowledge Assessments can be enforced at any time, even if the student has already begun the course. It can be set as mandatory either at the time of student creation or at a later date from the “View Student” page.

  • On Student Creation:
  • After Student Creation:
    • You can also follow the same steps to remove Forced SKAs, simply untick instead.

The Student Side:

When a student logs in and has a currently enforced SKA, their course will appear similar to the below image. With all topics locked, and styled accordingly.

When a student attempts to access one of these locked topics, a modal will appear, instructing them to complete the SKA and providing a link for further action. Similar to below.
