# What will be on the exam?

All exam boards follow the same government specification for functional skills exams so there is no variation in content between exam boards. The only differences between exam boards is the exam structure and question styling.

**English Specification**

The specification for levels 1 and 2 English functional skills can be found on the government website, which is linked below. There are differences in the content between level 1 and level 2, in areas covered and difficulty.

**Maths Specification**

The maths specification for functional skills level 1 and 2 can be found on the government website that is linked below. There are some differences between level 1 and level 2 in the depth of understanding learners must have.
