Understanding account types and attachments

This article explains how Student, Teacher and Organisation Manager accounts are linked across the Learning Platform and the Provider Platform.

Overview

Your organisation uses two connected platforms:

• Provider Platform – used by Organisation Managers (OMs) and Teachers to manage users.
• Learning Platform – used by students to access learning content.

Automatic Student Accounts

Organisation Managers (OMs)

• When an Organisation Manager signs up, our system creates:
  • An Organisation Manager account
  • A student account under the same name and email address

Teachers

• When an OM creates a Teacher, the system automatically creates:
  • A Teacher account
  • A student account under the same name and email address
• These student accounts allow the OMs and teachers to log into the Learning Platform, to help understand the student's experience of the platform.

Creating and Managing Students

In terms of creating, viewing, attaching and deleting:

Organisation Managers (OMs) can:

• Create Teachers and Students
• View all Teachers and Students within the organisation
• Attach students to Teachers
• Delete Teachers and Students

Teachers can:

• View only the students attached to them
• Create students (these students are automatically attached to that Teacher)
• Delete students accounts attached to them

NOTE: Deleting an Organisation Manager's or Teacher's designated student account will not delete the Organisation Manager's or Teacher's provider portal account.

What Happens When a Student Is Deleted?

• Teachers can delete students attached to them

  If a student account belonging to an OM is attached to a Teacher and the Teacher deletes it:

  • ✅ The student account is deleted
  • ✅ The Organisation Manager’s account is NOT affected

Deleting a student account never deletes:

• The OM account
• The Teacher account
• The organisation itself

Important Things to Know

• Student experience in the Learning Platform does not change

  Student accounts are:

  • Automatically created for OMs and Teachers
  • Attachable to Teachers
  • Deletable without affecting staff accounts
• OMs always retain full visibility across the organisation
