# How to enable Multifactor Authentication

Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) adds an extra layer of security to your account by requiring a one-time verification code (sent to your email) when signing in.

MFA helps protect user accounts and sensitive information across your organisation.

### How to set up MFA for your Organisation

#### 1. Visit the settings tab within the provider platform.

#### 2. Choose which User Types require MFA.

Organisation Manager's can decide which user groups will use MFA, select from the following user types:

- Organisation Managers
- Teachers
- Students

*Note: Cannot be set up on username based students as MFA requires email access*

These settings can be turned on or off for each user type.

#### 3. Individual Users Set Up MFA on Their Accounts.

When MFA is available for a user’s account type, each individual user can choose to turn it on from their own account settings.

During setup, the user will receive a one-time verification code by email to complete activation.
